6.2.11. Affiliate marketing

You are here: Control panel > Online Store > Affiliate Marketing

You can under Affiliate marketing set up sales and tracking codes that are used for registering sales. The codes are automatically shown on the order confirmation site.

Affiliate Marketing
Insert the whole tracking code in the text area and change the variables with the codes from the right side. This can e.g. be order number or order total.

Adwords
The affiliate marketing function can be also be used in Adwords sales tracking. Insert the adword code in the text field, every sale will afterwards be tracked. The dynamic codes on the right side cannot be used when working with Adwords.

Others
If you use another system for sales tracking, you probably have a received a code from your provider. You need to insert the code in the text field, and then adjust it to the SmartWeb system.

Below is a concrete example showed:

1. You have received an e-mail from your provider, that includes a code, that they ask you to insert in your system. Do not follow the guide that is written in the e-mail, because this is not created in relation to the SmartWeb system. You just have to insert this code under affiliate marketing. Go to: Control panel > Online store > Affiliate marketing and insert the code in the text field.

  <!-- [ START: COMMISSION JUNCTION AFFILIATE TRACKING TAG - IF REMOVED, DOWNTRACKING FEES MAY APPLY] --> <img src="https://www.emjcd.com/u?CID=1521055 &TYPE=345907&OID=<OID>&AMOUNT=<AMOUNT>&CURRENCY=<CURRENCY>&METHOD=IMG" height="1" width="20">

2. In this case the variables are marked. These are the ones that you have to work with.  The variables pick specific data from your online store each time you have an order. You have to make sure, that these are similar to the variables that the SmartWeb system knows, otherwise the system will not be able to pick the correct information.

3. The variables used in this case is OID, AMOUNT, CURRENCY. These are explained below:

  • OID: You need an order ID so that the provider can differ the orders from each other.

  • Amount: The provider needs to know exactly how big the order is in pieces and amount.

  • Currency: The provider needs to know in which currency the sale has been made in order to calculate the sale and profit.

4. Under "affiliate marketing" you can see the variables that are used as a standard in the SmartWeb system.

5. The variable %OrderID% is the OID, insert this in the code instead of the OID.

6. %OrderTotalInclVat% shows the total amount of the order, insert this in the code instead of the AMOUNT.

7. %OrderCurrencyCode%  shows the currency, insert this in the code instead of CURRENCY

8. The code now looks like this:

<!-- [ START: COMMISSION JUNCTION AFFILIATE TRACKING TAG - IF REMOVED, DOWNTRACKING FEES MAY APPLY] --> <img src="https://www.emjcd.com/u?CID=1521055 &TYPE=345907&OID=<%OrderId%>&AMOUNT=<%OrderTotalInclVatExclFee%>&CURRENCY=
<%OrderCurrencyCode%>&METHOD=IMG" height="1" width="20">
<!-- [ END: COMMISSION JUNCTION AFFILIATE TRACKING TAG - IF REMOVED, DOWNTRACKING FEES MAY APPLY] -->

9. You have now set up your sales tracking. This means that the provider receives the information every time an order is sent from the online store.
It is always a good idea to run some test orders together with the provider in  order to make sure, that every thing functions correctly.
